What you actually get
- 657 pieces, rated 8+, at a US price of $79.99 - 12.2 cents per piece, which is the licensed-set tax you pay for a large moulded dragon.
- The Ender Dragon itself, black and purple with articulated wings and neck, big enough to be the point of the set rather than an accessory.
- The End Ship with its purple sails, the treasure room and the elytra wings that players actually go there for, plus an End city tower section.
- 3 minifigures, 2 of them unique to this set according to Brickset, alongside an Enderman and a shulker - the mobs that make the location recognisable.
How does it compare with the other Minecraft sets?
Most LEGO Minecraft sets are small biome scenes: a hut, a mine, a farm with a few animals. This one is a boss fight. The dragon gives it a centrepiece that the cheaper sets lack, and the End Ship is the location kids recognise from the game’s final stretch. If a child has “beaten” Minecraft, this is the set that means something to them.
For the scarier end of the game there is the Deep Dark with its Warden - a smaller, cheaper set we’ll cover separately. Between the two, the dragon is the one with display value after the play is over.
Is LEGO The Ender Dragon and End Ship 21264 worth it?
For a Minecraft kid, yes: the dragon alone justifies the price, and the set has more play value than most licensed builds at $79.99. Check the price you’re offered, though. Brickset lists its retirement at the end of 2025, and once a set with a big unique figure leaves shelves, listings drift upward. Near list price it’s an easy buy; at double, wait for a better listing.
Who it suits
Players aged eight to twelve who know what an elytra is, and parents who want a LEGO set the child will actually engage with rather than admire. Less suited to adult collectors - the blocky Minecraft style doesn’t display like a Star Wars or Icons set - and to younger kids who won’t know the location.
Worth knowing first
Two practical notes. First, the dragon is the part that gets played with and the part that breaks; the wings pop off by design, which is fine, but keep the instructions for reassembly. Second, if the child is older than ten, the build is an afternoon - this is a play set, not a project, and the value is in what happens after.
What builders say
We have not built this one ourselves. These are real comments from builders who have, taken from a public YouTube review.

Did you know? The ender dragon is canonically female, her name is Jean? (The question mark exists at the end of every named character's name but is usually omitted for easier readability)
Yay! This is the set Iโve been looking forward too the most! Thank you for reviewing it!
These are amazing!! I love that they made sure to add the Ender Dragon figure head to the ship.
Verdict
The Minecraft set with an actual boss in the box: 657 pieces, a posable Ender Dragon, the End Ship and three minifigures. Buy it near list price while listings allow.
