Architecture ยท Landmark Series

It stood in the Architecture range for eight years, which tells you most of what you need to know. The LEGO Architecture Statue of Liberty 21042 is a 1,685-piece, 16+ model that launched in June 2018 at $119.99 and, according to Brickset, left LEGO’s own shops on 31 July 2026. At 44 cm it’s the tallest thing in the Landmark line, and the sand-green colour is the reason it looks right from across a room.

What you actually get

  • 1,685 pieces, rated 16+, at an original US price of $119.99 - about 7.1 cents per piece, cheap for a display set.
  • A model over 17 in. (44 cm) high and 5 in. (14 cm) wide and deep: the shield-lined pedestal with brick detailing and columned balconies, then the statue with the flowing robe, broken shackles, seven-ray crown, tablet and a golden torch.
  • The sand-green and beige colour scheme that reads as weathered copper, plus a decorative nameplate on the base.
  • A booklet on the monument’s design and history, in English and French, with other languages as a download.
  • Exited LEGO’s shops on 31 July 2026 per Brickset. The Amazon listing we link to still showed it available and discounted at the time of writing, with a 4.8 rating from more than 6,500 reviews.

How does it compare with the other Architecture sets?

Most Architecture sets are wide: skylines, or buildings on a plinth. This one is tall and narrow, so it fits a shelf where a skyline wouldn’t, and it’s the set people recognise instantly without reading the nameplate. Our Taj Mahal 21056 review covers the other big landmark in the line, with more pieces and a wider footprint; the two are the pair to own if you want the range’s two best display models.

Is the LEGO Statue of Liberty 21042 worth it?

Yes, and at the original price it was one of the best-value display sets LEGO made: 1,685 pieces for $119.99, and a result that looks more expensive than it is. Now that it has left LEGO’s shops, listings near list price are still an easy yes. The weak point, which Amazon reviewers mention too, is the face: it’s a single flat piece, so don’t expect a portrait. Everything else, the pedestal especially, holds up close.

Who it suits

Adults and teenagers who want a landmark on the desk, anyone with a New York connection, and people who like a calm build with one repetitive section, the pedestal’s four corners, followed by the more interesting statue. It’s a poor fit for children who want to play: nothing moves, and the statue is top-heavy.

Worth knowing first

Two practical notes. First, 44 cm needs a shelf with headroom; measure before it arrives. Second, sand-green is a colour LEGO uses rarely, so on a used copy check that no green parts have been swapped for the common dark green, which would show as patches on the robe.

Verdict

The tallest Architecture landmark: 1,685 pieces, 44 cm, the right green, eight years in the range and gone from LEGO’s shops since July 2026. Buy near list price while listings last.
